DEEP TISSUE LASER THERAPY

DEEP TISSUE LASER THERAPY

LASER is actually an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Lasers have been utilized for years, surgically and cosmetically.

Laser Therapy is a non-invasive, safe, and effective treatment where light is used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and promote wound healing and soft tissue repair. Laser therapy can be safely used as an adjunct or replacement for pharmaceutical drugs. This pain relief treatment enables patients to have an alternative to drugs and surgery.

LiteCure laser therapy is cleared by the FDA and provides safe, non-invasive treatments for a large variety of ailments. Most patients see results within 3 to 5 short treatments. LiteCure Medical lasers work by flooding the tissue with photons, which energize cells resulting in increased circulation to the injured area and ultimately reduces pain.

The LiteCure system takes advantage of a process called biostimulation. Biostimulation is the addition of nutrients into waste to help existing microbes break down waste in the muscles more effectively. The non-ionizing laser sends waves into tissue within the red to near-infrared part of the light spectrum, activating biostimulation.

Laser therapy allows your body to utilize it’s own healing powers by inducing a series of healing responses in your body (Photo-Biostimulation). During treatment you will feel a soothing warmth that initiates your body’s healing process leading to decreased pain and inflammation. . However, in some cases your pain may be worse 12-24 hours following treatment due to the activation of the healing process. This pain is rare and most consistently reported in chronic conditions but is a normal occurrence. Usually relief is felt after the initial increase in pain in these circumstances.

Depending on the condition being treated your treatment may be administered through either a contact or non-contact hand piece. The contact hand piece is designed to allow the practitioner to physically manipulate the tissue while administering the treatment, resulting in a laser-massage treatment. This allows for light to penetrate deeper into tissues than the non-contact hand piece due to its ability to displace tissue through a laser-massage technique.

Laser therapy has been adopted as an essential pain management tool by athletic trainers in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, FIFA and Olympic teams. LiteCure Medical is the preferred laser therapy manufacturer of professional trainers because we deliver consistent results. Elite athletes consistently rejoin the team faster when this energizing treatment is part of the treatment plan.

Principle

The laser therapy system works by flooding your body’s tissues with photons. These photons energize damaged cells and increase circulation in areas of pain. Your body responds to the treatment by quickly reducing inflammation, which can alleviate or even eliminate pain.

IT IS A 5 STEP PROCESS:

  • Poorly oxygenated tissue is lightly irradiated
  • Photons from the laser activate a biochemical reaction
  • Protein and collagen synthesize
  • cAMP (cyclic adenosine monophosphate) levels rise
  • Compromised cells begin to regrow

Protein and collagen synthesis are processes that help rebuild damaged muscle tissue. Proteins are the building blocks of muscles, and collagen allows muscles to perform their functions. Laser therapy helps activate synthesis of these proteins with damaged muscle tissue.Rising cAMP levels provide more effective pathways for biological healing processes. cAMP is like a messenger that facilitates communication between the brain and the area in need of healing. More messengers allow for faster relief.

The LiteCure system uses 10 watts of laser light. The laser is powerful enough to reach the deepest areas of pain without risking damage. It travels through a specialized quartz ball that your therapist will use to massage your sore muscles while administering laser therapy. The massage aids circulation and increases the effectiveness of the laser.

Biological Effects

Anti-Inflammation

Laser therapy has an anti-edemic effect as it causes vasodilation, but also because it activates the lymphatic drainage system (drains swollen areas). As a result, there is a reduction in swelling caused by bruising or inflammation.

Anti-Pain (Analgesic)

Laser therapy has a high beneficial effect on nerve cells which block pain transmitted by these cells to the brain and which decreases nerve sensitivity. Also, due to less inflammation, there is less edema and less pain.

Accelerated Tissue Repair and Cell Growth

Photons of light from lasers penetrate deeply into tissue and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth. The laser light increases the energy available to the cell so that the cell can take on nutrients faster and get rid of waste products.

Improved Vascular Activity

Laser light will significantly increase the formation of new capillaries in damaged tissue that speeds up the healing process, closes wounds quickly and reduces scar tissue.

Increased Metabolic Activity

Laser therapy creates higher outputs of specific enzymes, greater oxygen and food particle loads for blood cells.

Trigger Points

Laser therapy stimulates muscle trigger points on a non-invasive basis providing musculoskeletal pain relief.
